Referee Check-list

Referees usually have a checklist before a they start the game. However there is no official a referee checklist from FIFA or IFAB, some local associations, federations or clubs do have a checklist for their referees.

Here is the most common items on a soccer referee checklist:
  • Referee Uniform
  • Referee Gear
    - Whistle
    - Watch
    - Cards (Red card and yellow card)
    - Coin
    - Notebook and pencil (or pen)
    - Game information
  • Books & References
  • Laws of the Game – Game formats
Before a game can be kicked-off, a referee must also inspect the pitch (including goalposts and nets) and players to ensure that everything is safe to play and there is nothing that could be dangerous to players. Depends on the type of the match, the ball should be inspected to see if it meets the FIFA standards.
